Frequent users of Alexa are aware that we measure traffic on the web by analyzing the Alexa Toolbar's usage logs. As it stands right now we have enough users to do a reasonable job measuring traffic for the top 100K sites on the web. Sites outside of the Top 100k... that's another story. This is where you come in. Warning: blatant Alexa Toolbar promotion follows.
Do you have the Alexa Toolbar installed and are you using it?
Over the last 3 years Alexa has focused on giving away more and more data. Originally the only way to get Alexa's information about Web sites was via the toolbar. Then we created our first detail page showing all of our info outside of the toolbar. Then we created our detail pages on Amazon.com (yes, we have detail pages on Amazon.com too, link.) Now, we even have data feeds so that other sites can freely grab our data and use it. Link.
But what of the toolbar? How many people are using Alexa without contributing to it? About four years ago Alexa had a tagline that I liked a lot: The Web navigation service that learns from people. I want to bring that idea back.

If you wish to increase contribution to Alexa data, perhaps you would be more successful if you offered a browser plug-in that sent data back to Alexa that was hidden rather than a full toolbar.
I am sure there are users such as myself who would gladly contribute to Alexa data, but who are picky about their browser set up.
Of course, you may not get as much distribution of your toolbar, but you would likely receive more input into Alexa data, making the service more valuable as a whole.
Nice, the last link doesn't even work. That's some good promotion going on right there.

I've contacted Alexa.com on several occasions about issues with the Alexa toolbar.
"Allow sub-rames to to navigate accross different domains?"
"Stack overflow at line: 0"
As well as the Associate Toolbar has never worked. I've followed the steps to the T to create my own branded toolbar and it didn't work.
What's worse is that I had several of my friends try and use it and it installed over the original toolbar that had my Amazon.com associate ID embedded into it so my sales plummeted. :(
If you are going to promote the toolbar you should get it fixed first.
I like the whole alexa idea except that the toolbar is flakey - it doesn't stay where I put it - it'll break onto a new row and make pages scroll more than they have to. Used it for a while and now it's uninstalled. Fix the toolbar and I'd use it again

Was rather sad to see this line:

I am in Marketing for Eveready batteries in India, selling to consumers resident in India.
I would like to be able to get separate Alexa data for MSN India, Yahoo India, etc.
Right now they may be worlwide No.1, but how do I know how they stzck up against Indian sites?

I use a Mac. Even if I didn't, I wouldn't use IE for browsing. I do have IE on one computer with the toolbar that I use occasionally, but I'd rather have a Firefox plugin I can use on my Mac.
I agree with Ben's call for

IE is unlikley to be part of the solution - its not the browser for people want to do new things and think new thoughts-its the default browser- the path of least thought.
Nice people, the kind of people who want to add to the sum total of knowledge, are sitting at their G4's they want to be a part of alexa...................
